School was a normal activity before Nazi occupied. It was normal to go to school. Before the German occupation the more wealthy people got to go to school. Behind the boy there is a car and that sort of shows that his father is wealthy. In my picture there is a van, but most everyone has a car now a day. It is custom in Germany for the kids that are first starting school to get a cone filled with candy and school supplies. For the American Culture its not custom for people to make a big deal out of getting school supplies.
